The Hamilton Community Schools community mourns the passing of the district's first superintedent, Dr. Ray Lokers, who passed away on Friday morning at the age of 103.

Dr. Lokers served as the superintendent from 1958-1965 and helped start the district.

"He's the foundation of our district," said Hamilton Community Schools Board of Education secretary, Loren Joostberns. "The values that we continue to hold dear are directly attributable to him. I hope our extended community continues to uphold his family in their thoughts and prayers but we can rejoice for Doc and his new surroundings," Joostberns added.

His family is welcoming the public to the visitation and memorial service:

Visitation: August 17 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Haven Church in Hamilton
