Hamilton High School teacher Sarah Kapenga recently took nine juniors and seniors with aspirations to pursue careers in education to Hope College for a firsthand look at college-level education programs. During the visit, students connected with Hope's Department of Education faculty, including Department Chair Dr. Sue Brondyke, and had the unique opportunity to learn from Hope senior and Hamilton High alum Aubree Folkert.

The students observed live education classes, allowing them to experience the structure and demands of college courses focused on teaching. They explored the four-year education track, gaining insight into what their own journey in college might look like. Hamilton students asked questions and engaged with current college students and faculty, helping them envision their future in the field of education.

"This experience was invaluable for our students," said Kapenga. "It allowed them to get an inside look at the commitment, challenges, and rewards of studying to become an educator."

The trip to Hope College was an inspiring step forward for Hamilton’s future teachers, giving them a clear vision of the path that lies ahead.
