Caylie Riess

Meet Ms. Riess!

I love art because it fosters self expression, something that I strive to accomplish in my classroom. The Hawkeye art program is always evolving and growing. Our current course offerings cover a wide range of mediums and techniques as well as rigorous content for growing artists. My favorite part about teaching is when students are proud of what they have made. I love supporting students in their art journey by having one-on-one problem solving communication. I truly believe art is beneficial for all students because it sets them up for success in their future careers. When I am not in the classroom I like to craft, watch movies, and be outdoors in my community! I am a Central Michigan grad and specialize in ceramics and figure drawing with a love for printmaking and mixed media.

Warm Regards,

Heather KeeslerMeet Mrs. Keesler!

I have been an art educator in West Michigan for 20 years. I received my bachelor's degree in Art and Design with a minor in Elementary Education from Grand Valley State University.  I  currently teach art to the 5th to 8th grades at Hamilton Middle School and private art lessons to the 2nd to 12th graders in the summer.  I have a passion for ceramics, and love teaching art.  I believe that all children deserve equal access to the arts, as they are essential to nurturing creativity, fostering right brain development, and supporting mental health. In my classroom, I view every student as an artist with their own unique creative voice. My goal is to create an inclusive environment where students feel empowered to explore and express their creativity without fear of judgment. Through the arts, I strive to help students develop not only their technical skills but also their confidence, emotional intelligence, and ability to think critically. I am committed to guiding each student in discovering their artistic potential, recognizing that the creative process is as important as the final product.

Katie DumouchelleMeet Mrs. Dumouchelle!

Hi, my name is Katie Dumouchelle and I am the Art Teacher at Hamilton Elementary & Unified Arts Teacher for Hamilton Middle School. I love teaching Art because the Arts are for all! Art is a language that everyone speaks. The Arts provide opportunities for students to express themselves, be creative, collaborate and cooperate, problem solve, learn and make connections in new and different ways. I love watching students have fun and explore through the Artistic Process. I love being a part of the Hamilton Community and helping to build students' knowledge of the Visual Arts and encourage them to have fun and try new things. When I'm not teaching I'm running around after my three kiddos, reading a book or trying a new recipe.

Artsonia is a gallery of student Art Portfolios that displays their artwork worldwide. Mrs. Dumouchelle uses Artsonia as a way for her students to take part in a different part of the Artistic Process AND to share their artwork with their friends and friends both near and far. All Hamilton Elementary students get artwork uploaded to their digital portfolios, the younger by Mrs. D and students in grade 2nd-4th upload their artwork themselves and work on titles and eventually Artist statements!
